Travel: Gold Coast Day 1

I thought it was about time I posted about our family holiday to the Gold Coast, after all, it has been 6 months since we went.

I found a cheap package through the Discover Australia website and for just under $470 each person, we were flying to the Gold Coast from Sydney and staying for 7 nights at Q1. Bargain.

The drive up to Sydney was very uneventful and we get to the airport really early. We board the flight and off we go. Just over an hour later, we arrive at Coolangatta and we are ready to start our week away!

We pick up our hire car for the week, a Mitsubishi ASX, and load up for the drive to the Gold Coast. We find Q1 purely because it's so big and you can see it from afar.

We arrive and check in. We end up on level 41 and we have a beach facing room. Not bad for such a bargain! The room is so much bigger and better than I thought it would be!

The views are spectacular, from all directions! The beach, the canals, the city. I could just stand around and look out the windows for hours.

We go into Surfers Paradise to find some dinner and pick up a few essential supplies. We end up choosing teppanyaki at Zushi. This is the first time the kids and I have been to teppanyaki and we are so excited... until we start having food thrown at us! Amy was a little scared whenever the chef threw the eggs! Of course I ended up wearing a raw egg. Oh well, it's all part of the experience, right?

And that's our first day. I'm still excited writing about this trip, even after all this time!
