Sewing: 501 Quilt Blocks Week 16

This one is Grandmother's Favourite (we all know that's me, right?!)

Ok, so not really, but it's always nice to think you're someone's favourite.

Sewing: 501 Quilt Blocks Week 15

Our block this week is called the Amish Diamond.

I like diamonds.

This block was so simple to make. If only they were all like that...

Sewing: Guest Post

I was fortunate enough to participate in a guest post over at Simplify Create Inspire.

I made a sweet little pram blanket for a friend of a friend who had given all her baby stuff away. It's always the way, isn't it?

So, where was I? That's right. I made a wee little pram blanket using a jelly roll that I had been hoarding saving for a project just like this one.

I even did up a bit of a tutorial of how to create the block and you can have a look at it here: LINK.

Scrapbooking: Photo Op

Along with my last layout, Swim, I created this layout for D-lish's facebook cybercrop. I was too late to get it in, but these were photos that I had wanted to scrap in ages and the challenge was perfect.

You needed to use photos from some kind of photo shoot and use an embellishment with a camera on it.

Too easy. These photos were taken way back when I first got my SLR. Kate was playing around with my old camera and taking photos of Luke. I also had that big-arsed chipboard camera embellishment that filled the spot perfectly.

And I finally used one of those slide frames. They were in my too hard to use pile (as opposed to my too good to use pile).

Sewing: 501 Quilt Blocks Week 14

The block this week is called Road to California.

I myself have never been to California, so I can't say for certain whether or not it looks like the roads there. But I'll take a guess and say this is someone's very liberal definition of what a road looks like.

Although pot is legal over there now, isn't it? Which could possibly explain it...

Scrapbooking: Pixie

I decided to scrap last night, but I didn't really know what. So I checked out a few challenge blogs and I came across Show Us Your Stuff. I decided that yep, that's the one I would do.

It's a sketch challenge this month. So based on this sketch:

I created this layout:

The handmade items I used include some enamel dots I made from hama beads, a stamped tag and a flair from D-lish Scraps.

Day to Day: Father's Day

I know I am a month late with this post! But I really wanted to capture it here for the future.

We hadn't planned anything for Father's Day specifically. I'd like to say that we like to keep it flexible, but truth is, I'm terrible at planning things like that.

After a bit of playing with his present, Steve suggested we go to Sydney Aquarium and I was right with him, up until I had to select a time frame to visit. This was all new to me. Every other time we have gone, we have just rocked up.

So, I suggested that we go to Manly aquarium instead as I don't remember ever going there. And it was cheaper. Always a plus when you're paying for 5.

The aquarium is quite small. You really don't need long to go through it. We did the rounds twice just to stretch our time out a little.

The underwater section was pretty cool though. The kids thought the sharks lying on the glass were funny, especially when they kept sliding down the curve.

Then we went to see the penguins. A duck face Amy? For reals?

Ok, my absolute most favourite photo of the day: smiling fish.

And a group shot on the way back to the ferry.

Which should be my favourite photo, but c'mon, smiling fish people!!!!
