Scrapbooking: Kate

Somehow I managed another layout. Two in two weeks, there must be something wrong with me! This layout is another one in my 'grateful' series of layouts. Actually I am really enjoying the focus of these layouts. For this layout, I found a colour combination on Pinterest that I adored and I decided to use that to complete this layout.

Yeah, I know it's a little different as I added the yellow and my colours aren't so pastel, but I tried. I guess I am just not that good at sticking to criteria! And if you're in the market for a colour combo, I suggest you check out this site: Design Seeds. They have the most awesome palettes!

You know, I have been looking more and more at using buttons on my layouts. Not just because I like them, but because I have so many of them. I have been thinking of ways to whittle down the stash, I have seen some beautiful button crafts on Pinterest which I might have a go at.

Another book review: The Miracle of Grace by Kate Kerrigan. I picked this book up at Basement Books the other week for just a couple of dollars. Can I just say, that it scares me a little that this place is so close to my work. Anyway, so I did judge this book by it's cover, that's why I bought it, it looked like a nice story just from the cover. I was surprised in that I actually really, really liked it. I liked the way it was written, the writing was easy and flowing. The story was sad-ish, but not unrealistic. It didn't take long to finish as I was really absorbed in it.

Well, I guess that's it from me today. Steve has gone go karting so it's me and the kids vs the world today. I am loving the weather, except for it being a little smoky, but thinking about being outside to make some more granny squares for the afghan I am making, would be a marvelous way to spend the day.

Day to Day: Vampire Jinx

Ok Sarah, who doesn't update her blog, this one's for you:

You know how in the last post I said that Jinx wanted in on the action. Well, she was the action! This photo is freaking hilarious and it looks like a zombie cat! I just laugh every time I see it. Ahhhh it feels good.

Reading: The Color Purple

An oldie but a goodie. I haven't read The Color Purple in years, so when I happened across it in the library, I didn't hesitate in picking it up. It is such an awesome book and to be honest, even better than I remember it to be. I just drank it all in. I love it so much. If you haven't read this book, you've seriously missed out all these years. I wouldn't say it's my favourite book, but it is definitely in my top 5. :)

And Jinx couldn't help herself, even she wanted to read the book it's that good!

And a photo just because. Just because Amy is a dag and was loving these funny glasses. Does she look like me? Well, her glasses are almost the same colour as mine, except, darn it, mine don't have the bling.

Wow, I can't believe I am still keeping this blog thing up. Props to me.

Scrapbooking: Us

Well, who'd have thought I'd be back here so soon? Not me, that's for sure! But I am. With a layout even.

A couple of years ago, I happened across a site that was about doing a Grateful album, where you scrapped one layout a week about something you were grateful for. As usual, I thought it was a fantastic idea and I wanted to do it, I just lacked the basic motivation to actually go through with it.

Lately I have been thinking, which is not always a good idea, that it would be a nice idea to put a different spin on some layouts. So this layout, instead of it being about when we went to Canberra, I decided to make it a 'grateful' layout.

In addition to the theme, I also used all scraps. I went to my scrap bags and sifted through them until I found some papers that were coordinating. Then I went to town. And town as in about 10 days for me to complete this. To be honest, I just kept putting it to the side. When I finally got to it last night, it took all of an hour and a half to complete.

I wanted to use some dymo tape with my old click clack thing, but the colours were off, so I used some plain white paper instead and inked it. Yeah, my cutting is a little crooked and it does pain me to look at it, but I am trying to let go of some of my OCD tendencies.... trying...

That's it for today. I am thinking my craft crap needs a good tidy up. My fabric and yarn stashes have been multiplying of late...

Day to Day: Father's Day

Father's Day was a quiet affair here. Steve wasn't all that well, the poor bugger. The kids got him lolly jars from the Father's Day stall at school. Which is great. Except he is not supposed to eat them because of his food intolerances. Between you and me, it doesn't stop him. We also went for a trip to Bunnings and picked up a few new plants for the vege patch.

So, I have always wanted to do a cross stitch, and I have a couple here that are quite large, but never doing one before, I thought I should start small. A while ago I picked up this bookmark to make. It has taken me so long to complete this. Because I kind of put it to the side and never picked it up again for a couple of months. And by couple, I mean eight or so. Last week, I decided it was time I started putting some of these UFO's to rest. It's a bit cute, but the base is starting to come apart a little so I was thinking of covering the back (aka. covering my mess) and then binding the side in some matching fabric. I am sure that will take me another eight months or so to complete...

I thought I would share one of my favourite pins from I love pinterest. It is one of those sites that I could content myself with for hours. Here's a little something I have on my to-do list, which after joining this place, it's getting longer by the day. ::source::

That's it for today. :)

Day to Day: Movie Night

How awesome is the weather?! I spent most of yesterday outside, riding Luke's bike that's a little too big for him yet. Let me just put it out there, it was very laugh-worthy because even though it's too big for him, it's too small for me. I guess I could have ridden my own bike. But where's the fun in that?!

Last night I went to Sarah's for a movie night, since her hubby was out at a gig. Don't bother clicking on the link to her blog, she never updates it. Yes. That was a dig at you Sarah. Was it subtle enough?

Steve went to the video shop and got this for us:

Yeah it's old, but I don't get around to seeing movies often, like usually when they come out on free-to-air TV and then it's usually the second time it's been shown. Anyway, I remember when this first came out at the movies and I really wanted to go and see it. I am just going to say this, I am glad I didn't spend $17.50 + popcorn and a drink to see this at the movies. I know it is based on a book. I wish I had read the book instead of seeing the movie. Or maybe they could have just made the movie R rated? Seriously, I don't think I have seen that many nude scenes in a girlie flick. Well, that's my rant.

So, it's Father's Day today. I have no idea what we are going to do. Steve has the man flu. You know what it's like...
